Dr. Jotie’s other achievements and recognitions are:

  1. One of three recipients in the nation to receive a 4-year full-tuition Naval optometric scholarship through the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program.
  2. Recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for her performance as Division Officer for the Naval Branch Health Clinic at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, FL
  3. Recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal during her final military tour as the Department Head for the Optometry Clinic at U.S. Naval Hospital Guam.
  4. Recipient of the National Association of VA Optometrists Resident Scholarship.

Her research interests include binocular vision and neuro-ophthalmic disorders, with a special focus on light sensitivity after a mild traumatic brain injury (TBI).

In addition to her research, she is preparing for her thesis defense on common comorbidities in the post-9/11 Veteran population that exacerbate light sensitivity after a mild TBI and the investigation of a novel non-invasive electrical neurofeedback treatment for this common post-concussive symptom.
