Dr. Jotie’s other achievements and recognitions are:
- One of three recipients in the nation to receive a 4-year full-tuition Naval optometric scholarship through the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program.
- Recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for her performance as Division Officer for the Naval Branch Health Clinic at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, FL
- Recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal during her final military tour as the Department Head for the Optometry Clinic at U.S. Naval Hospital Guam.
- Recipient of the National Association of VA Optometrists Resident Scholarship.
Her research interests include binocular vision and neuro-ophthalmic disorders, with a special focus on light sensitivity after a mild traumatic brain injury (TBI).
In addition to her research, she is preparing for her thesis defense on common comorbidities in the post-9/11 Veteran population that exacerbate light sensitivity after a mild TBI and the investigation of a novel non-invasive electrical neurofeedback treatment for this common post-concussive symptom.
