Question: “What brought you to OCVT and Vision Therapy?”

Melanie: I came to OCVT because my friend ( … ) was having some eye issues and when I came in to hear about her evaluation for it everything that y’all told her as far as seeing, working with you to make reading easier, making basically life easier, I thought, “Gosh, that could apply to me.” So upon the evaluation I thought I’m going to try it and see what happens. See about if it could help me in my everyday life as well as in like the sports, I shoot skeet. So, in helping me see targets better and helping me with some vertigo issues.

Question: “How has Vision Therapy made an impact on your life?”

Melanie: It’s impacted my life in a very positive way. Over the course of months that I took the therapy sessions, we worked on a lot of different eye activities. My favorite was probably the convergence divergence which not only helps me in everyday life but in seeing targets for shooting skeet. It was incredible. And then working on my peripheral vision. That was another thing that helped me a lot. I can not only see when driving in traffic, everyday traffic, that also helps me. But also, in the skeet shooting. It helps me see targets better. And everyday life I also like to bird and that sort of thing. So, it was able to help me in seeing nature and that sort of thing. So, it’s been absolutely wonderful to be able to improve upon what perhaps I already had.

Question: “How have your symptoms improved?”

Melanie: I believe my symptoms have improved in the respect that now I can control my eyes a little bit better with convergence and divergence issues. Where before I had no idea how to do that. So, with the exercises I found them very challenging and I look forward to them every week. And I improved every day I came in.

Question: “What advice would you give someone interested in Vision Therapy?”

Melanie: Definitely go for it. This vision therapy… I’m so glad that I found you guys because nobody else has done what y’all are doing that I’m aware of and we’ve looked around a long time. It’s helped me in so many ways and the fact that nobody else out there is doing it. And it seems like the exercises are so simple to do that they almost don’t seem like they would help you, but it’s unbelievable how much they do help you, and it improves the quality of life.
